VISION: To be the leading provider of Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, and Empowering (CARE) continuing care in Southern Alberta. This vision guides every aspect of our service delivery, from clinical decision making to daily resident interactions.
MISSION: At Leisure Way Community Group Home and Leisure Way Living Inc., we strive to provide exceptional, compassionate care that respects and empowers individuals, fostering dignity and well being at every stage of life. This mission is embedded in our staffing practices, our therapeutic programming, and our dedication to creating a true home based alternative to institutional care.
LOGO: The Two Hands represent the collaborative nature of our care model, it takes a team of family, resident, & interdisciplinary personnel to care for our residents. The Heart represents our Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, and Empowering care to them, and the House that represents the setting where this CARE happens including our staffing practices, our therapeutic programming, and our dedication to creating a true home‑based alternative to institutional care. MEET OUR TEAM

Dr. Monty Van Der Westhuizen, MD, MBA
Owner | Medical Director
As Co-Owner and Medical Director, he provides the clinical leadership and compassionate oversight that guide the quality of care within our Continuing Care Home. A highly accomplished physician, he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in South Africa in 1991 and has since built a distinguished medical career spanning 35 years.
He holds the LMCC – Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and the CCFP – Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada, reflecting his commitment to excellence in family medicine and resident centered care. Since becoming a medical doctor in 1991, he has dedicated her practice to delivering safe, evidence based, and dignified healthcare.
His role includes:
- Comprehensive medical assessments and ongoing health monitoring
- Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Medication prescribing and review
- Coordination of specialist referrals and continuity of care
- Oversight of clinical standards, safety, and resident well being
With decades of experience caring for diverse patient populations, he ensures that every resident receives attentive, personalized, and compassionate medical support. His leadership strengthens our mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and medically sound home for all who live here.

Patrick Roche, RT
Co-Owner | Operator
As Owner and Recreational Therapist, he brings a warm, person centered approach to enhancing the quality of life for every resident in our Continuing Care Home. He holds a Diploma in Recreation Leadership and Post Diploma Studies in Recreation Programming for Older Adults from Algonquin College in Ottawa, grounding his work in both professional training and deep compassion for aging adults.
He has completed Long Term Care Studies with the Canadian Long Term Care Association and earned Therapeutic Music Care Certification, enriching his ability to design meaningful, restorative, and individualized programs. With over 36 years of experience in the Continuing Care sector, he has dedicated his career to creating environments where older adults feel engaged, valued, and connected.
His role includes:
- Designing and leading therapeutic recreation programs tailored to residents’ abilities and interests
- Integrating music based therapeutic approaches to support emotional and cognitive well being
- Promoting social engagement, mobility, and purposeful daily living
- Collaborating with care teams to support holistic resident wellness
- Fostering a warm, inclusive, and uplifting home environment
His lifelong commitment to recreation therapy ensures that every resident experiences joy, dignity, and meaningful connection each day.

Jimmy Tablan, HCA, BA, STB, MBA, MRE
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, he provides strategic and hands on leadership that ensures the smooth, safe, and compassionate operation of our Continuing Care Home. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy (Mater Boni Consilii) and Theology from the Loyola School of Theology at Ateneo de Manila University, complemented by post graduate studies in Business Administration (Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Makati) and Religious Education (Newman Theological College, Edmonton). This unique blend of formation—ethical, spiritual, and managerial—shapes his thoughtful, people centered approach to care.
He brings a rich and diverse professional background, including nine years as Executive Director of a Youth Foundation, a year of High School teaching, 14 years of experience in the disability support sector, and four years in the Continuing Care industry, where he rose through the ranks as a Health Care Aide into senior leadership. His work reflects a deep commitment to dignity, service, and operational excellence.
In his role as COO, he oversees:
- Daily facility operations and service delivery
- Staffing, scheduling, and workforce development
- Quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
- Policy creation, implementation, and regulatory compliance
- Coordination across departments to ensure resident centered care
His leadership ensures that the home operates with integrity, efficiency, and compassion—creating an environment where residents, families, and staff feel supported and valued.

Noralyn Tablan, BMD, BSA
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, she provides strategic financial leadership that strengthens the long term sustainability and operational excellence of our Continuing Care Home. A graduate with degrees in Accountancy and Business Management, she brings a powerful blend of technical expertise, analytical discipline, and compassionate stewardship to the organization.
With over 11 years of combined experience across human services, retail, construction, and real estate, she offers a uniquely well rounded perspective on financial operations, risk management, and organizational growth. Her background includes a decade of specialized experience in property and mall management, where she led complex budgeting, asset planning, contract oversight, and revenue optimization for large scale facilities.
In her role as CFO, she oversees:
- Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Regulatory compliance and audit coordination
- Capital planning and asset stewardship
- Strategic financial analysis to support resident centered care
- Leadership of accounting, procurement, and financial operations teams
